Yes, the markets will usually be pretty flat leading up to the NFP announcement then the storm will hit. We are Price Action traders here so no one should trade 'because' it's NFP, but be trading during NFP because they've previously entered a price action trade setup.
I've been in trades during NFP and sometimes my stop gets hit really quick, sometimes my trade profit goes through the roof, and sometimes there is hardly any effect. As long as you're reasons for entering the trade were solid then you've done the right thing, don't enter poor trade setups before NFP hoping to catch volatility.
