My current avatar is of the Great Seal of the United States on its one dollar bill.
The designer of the seal, Charles Thomson, said that, "The Eye [of Providence] over it [the pyramid] and the motto Annuit Cœptis allude to the many signal interpositions of providence in favor of the American cause."
Annuit Cœptis is Latin and means "ze favours (or favoured) our undertakings." (Ze is a gender neutral pronoun.)
The other motto, Novus Ordo Seclorum, also Latin, means "new order of the ages."
